Rule #1: Be Selfish

so normally i would like to think that i’m not a very selfish person..but now that i’ve been given a once in a lifetime opportunity..i’m gonna be selfish. i’m going to do what i want to do regardless of what other people want to do. even if i end up doing it with someone i hardly know or alone (to a certain extent of course) but i didn’t travel all this way, work this hard, and let my parents pay this much money to let other people decide what i’m doing/seeing/etc. that might sound a little harsh but if i want to go to montjuic and no one else wants to..i’m still going. and that is that. i think this is kind of a life rule too..it’s your life, and only your life. you are responsible for your own happiness and it’s not fair to you to give someone else the reins. do what makes YOU happy..after all, you only live once :)

rule #2: try everything at least once
because i know i’m gonna regret it if i don’t. there are soooo many things i would kick myself later on in life for if i didn’t do them now. if i hate it then i’ll never do it again. for example, i am not a fan of seafood whatsoever buuut the most popular dish in spain is paella and it’s seafood and i’m gonna eat it. i might throw it up after, but hey, at least i tried it.

rule #3: kiss your comfort zone goodbye
really, though? why hold back when you have the opportunity to expose yourself to so many new things whether it makes you feel uncomfortable or not…we’re going to nude beaches…ahhh

rule #4: don’t be afraid to say no
say no to people you don’t want to hang out with. say no to annoying people trying to sell you things on the street. say no to creepy men trying to dance with you at a club. no is a word that has so much power..and if all else fails..punch them in the face ;)

THAT BEING SAID…

i’ve been waiting for tomorrow for so so so long and now it’s finallyyyy here! we’ve pretty much just been in like preport debriefs all day learning about how to avoid pickpockets..i’m genuinely nervous. these thieves sound so sneaky and desperate. they even use children to do their dirty work. wish me luck. maybe i can even put some of this good ole spanish to use too!
riiiight now we’re just sitting around deciding what to do tomorrow during the day because we’re going to a Flamenco show and dinner at night so we have some time to kill and we’ll probably just go to Gaudi’s park and see La Sagrada Familia. i’m not much of an architecture buff but i am sooo looking forward to it. and of course getting tapas and sangria at some point!
I’m sunburnt. Sorry Mom. laying out on a boat all day is just too good to resist..sometimes i forget that i’m even here for school :) but now it’s time for frozen yogurt yummm

ps my good friend lauren on here has the same birthday as me..love when that happens!
pss i’m wearing a money belt…hahahaha never in my life did i ever think i would be one of those people
